Top 5 Wallpaper Tips
You may have been thinking about wallpaper because it has made a major comeback. Designs are bold, beautiful, and pack a ton of personality. You may also may be thinking that you can take on this ask yourself- which it also totally possible! But there are also tips that you need to know, and even more- where to shop for your perfect design.

When I remodeled our house I knew I wanted the powder room to be fun and make a statement. It was going to be used the most by our guests, and is small so I needed to punch up the dullness. Does any one else remember going to the wallpaper store with their mom for hours? Those don’t really exist anymore. But there are so many amazing options. The kitchen had been planned, the living room layout finalized, the master bath undergoing demo. But I still hadn’t chose a wallpaper.
The good news? I learned a ton and love the powder room. I hope you find these tips useful and you won’t stress so much over the decision. Go with what speaks to you. This is a space where you can be bold!
TOP TIPS:
- Get Samples. Many online retailers will send free or minimally priced samples. They aren’t huge, but enough to get the idea. It will also contain vital info on the back like pre-pasted, and pattern info so you know how many rolls to buy. My fav shops: Online: serenaandlily.com, anthropologie.com, Walnut Wallpaper, Decorators Best Local Store: Not many options. But Sherwin Williams carries most major lines. In Columbus Creative Paints in Clintonville is BY FAR the best selection. I went all over the city so trust me on this. She will order tons of samples for you too.

2. Decide if you want to do this yourself or hire a pro. Factors: how handy are you? Are you good at math? Do you have space to work? Can you easily follow youtube videos without losing patience? 🙂 I ended up hiring a pro (Stan the Wallpaper man, I call him). Stan was a little pricey but TOTALLY WORTH IT. He has been wallpapering since 1982 and Reagan was President, so he know’s what he is doing. I found Stan on the Sherwin Williams pro board.

3. Have fun! Like I said earlier, wallpaper can be fun and show off your personality! Check out this whimsical bath! LOVE IT!

4. Consider other paper than just patterns. There are so many styles out there that can add some texture- such as grasscloth!
5. Hold on to that wallpaper dude’s number and consider another room, or place. Background of a bookcase? Lovely. Dining room above wainscoting? Also beautiful.
Hope this helps and if you have any more questions or still worried about the decision, reach out! Best! Rebes
