When I was approached by the two young ladies who wanted to update an adorable bungalow they inherited from their Grandmother, I was excited to hear their ideas of an open concept. They inherited the home, and it needed a major facelift. They loved the nieghborhood, and knew they wanted to stay put. Although busy with work and getting a Masters, they had grand ideas but short on time!
We are so excited to begin the journey with them of opening the layout, complete with new drywall & ceiling, new kitchen (which is going to be gorgeous!) and dining area.
You can see the BEFORE below:

Ok, so we knew it needed work. First order of business was demo, to clear out the space and see how we could design it to best fit their needs. We knew the middle wall was load-bearing, but we we able to build a header that wouldn’t impeed on the open design.
See the hole in the floor? Those are the old stairs to the basement. They are getting moved!
The space is starting to take shape! The existing living room wood floors will be refinished and stained to match new bamboo flooring in renovated area. The little wall in the middle will be a support for the new kitchen island.
Final appliances and cabinets were picked out today (Vented Stainless Steel Island Hood! Light Grey Cabinets!) More pictures to come! XO, Rebes
